Typically, new students that train 2-3 times per week advance from White to
Black Belt in about 3 years. Belt promotion tests are usually conducted every
two to three months.

 | Represents purity and infancy in Martial Arts. The student is humble
and pure in mind like a blank sheet of paper waiting to be filled through
the Master's teachings. |
 | Represents a seed which requires enrichment to grow. We cannot see the
beautiful image of the tree until it begins to grow. The student must
enrich him/herself by working hard and sacrificing for his/her own growth. |
 | Represents the end of spring and is the foundation of Martial Arts. A
strong base is needed to build the strength, power, knowledge, and wisdom
that will be gained throughout the process of growing and developing
towards maturity. |
 | Represents the beginning of autumn. The student is becoming rich in
mental and physical skills and must concentrate on the basic techniques.
This level is one fifth of the way to Black Belt. The student is more
graceful, powerful and has increased endurance. |
 | Represents the beginning of summer and life itself. The student must
work hard and demonstrate perseverance in order to reach and grow like a
plant. After learning the basic techniques, the student now applies the
skills in sparring and in combinations. |
 | Represents the clear sky. The student is working towards a high goal
which knows no limits. At this point, the student has developed speed and
accuracy. The Blue Belt is the halfway point to Black Belt. |
 | Represents the sun which is the source of all energy. The student has
endured great discipline of mind and body, and can be confident in
everyday challenges. |
 | Represents the end of autumn and the completeness of harmony,
coordination, and fulfillment. Total awareness, speed, power, accuracy,
endurance, and knowledge will be the determining factors on whether the
student will enter the mastery of Black Belt. |
 | Represents the beginning of winter and the beginning of understanding
the meaning of life. Patience is required to prepare for Black Belt by
refining one's skills to the smallest details. |
1 Dan (1st Degree) Black Belt
 | Represents Maturity. Black absorbs all of the sun's rays and becomes
abundant with energy. Tolerance is required to be able to share the wisdom of
life with others. To achieve a Black Belt, the student must show great
humbleness, good control of his/her discipline, and leadership by being able
to teach. |
